Dr. Matthew Melander joins Advanced Bone & Joint with over 13 years of experience, and he is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics in both Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He has been practicing in St. Charles County, serving its surrounding counties and the greater St. Louis area.

Dr. Melander is an East Coast native who now resides in Missouri with his family. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of New England in Maine, and he completed his Internship and Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis. He went on to complete his Sports Medicine Fellowship at Methodist Sports Medicine Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was Team Fellow for the Indianapolis Colts during their 2007 Super Bowl Championship Season.

Dr. Melander is an expert in providing comprehensive sports medicine and workers’ compensation care, with a particular interest in treating anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, arthroscopic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, rotator cuff repair, and advanced arthroscopy of the shoulder, hip, and knee. He is the current past-president of the Sports Medicine Section of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics. He has also presented multiple lectures on Sports Medicine and Workers’ Compensation.

As an endurance athlete himself, Dr. Melander understands how important it is for active people to get back to their normal routine quickly and safely after suffering an injury. Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Melander enjoys training for and running marathons, boating, traveling and spending time with his family.
